Locks
Hey all, recently realised that not all locks are equal.
I have a 63 4 door and the lock is only on the drivers side and is in the handle. I looked on Rob.hardy`s Trav and the lock is on both sides and about an inch below the handle.
Whats the sidnificance or is it just 2dr Vs 4 Dr?

When you think about this issue, it becomes even more bazaar. Remember the 4 door/LCV came along later, so if that style lock/handle was the new improved (BMC?) style, were there thoughts of incoprorating a lock in both sides? Then why didn't they do it until Series V? Why not use the same assembly on all models so the door skin wouldn't have to be change to key the left side.
The only explanation I can see is there is less space between the window frame and the back edge of the door for the design thaat is used on the 2 door, so a new design was required.
