Help! I need a Carb!

Post by Dom »

Hi, I recently visited my garage to be told i need a new Carburettor, with or without breather (my 1098 engine seems to be a hybrid with 2 breathing pipes attached already?!) But just wanted to ask does anyone know of places I can get a new one for a reasonable price? I'm an 18 year old student desperately trying to keep the Morris flag held high, but is hard when i'm falking out for parts i cant afford!

If you could email me any places you know and prices I could get one for a good price that would be really good.

Thanks alot!

Did they say what's wrong with it?

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

It's highly unlikely you need a new carb - they just don't know what they are doing. Tell us what's wrong !

MT.. £80 is a hell of a lot for a student, its roughly equivalent to 40 pints!!!!

In all seriousness though when I was at uni that was 2 weeks food money for me, I think we are looking for a cheapo second hand one.

I think aupickup might have some second hand ones (I'm buying one from him at the National) but there might not be nothing wrong with it that a good clean won't fix.

SU carbs (unless lying in a junk heap exposed to weather or hit with a hammer!) go on for years and years. We need to know what the problem is!
