Whats the Best Maintenance manual?

Post by MiniMinor »

Dear Minor Buffs,
My gorgeous little brother has just got himself a Moggie. I want to get him a fab present so thought that a comprehensive step by step manual would be perfect. I know Haines do one but is there a better one i should know about?

thanks so much for your help

One of the best is the original Leyland Morris Minor Workshop Manual.I'm not certain if this is still in print, but copies can be obtained from Morris suppliers who usually have a few second hand.
Is he a member of the club? By joining he will receive copies of our mag which has details of all rallies, together with adverts for all the suppliers of Morris parts/services available. If he needs any advice for his car we're here to help, theres always someone around to answer any questions.

The best one to get is the official manufacturer's workshop manual. I'm not certain but I think this is a reprinted copy of it.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Yeah that's the one. I'm finding you need two copies, one for the house and one for the garage/workshop :)

There's also a very very good maintenance manual by DVW Francis, one of the "Pearson's Illustrated Car Servicing Series for Owner Drivers" it's just called "Morris Minor". It's out of print afaik but you can pick copies up at rallies and autojumbles.

The Haines manual is definitely useful but has errors in it so you have to read it in conjunction with the workshop manual, really.

Good luck to your little brother, I hope he has as much fun maintaining his Minor as I intend to, maintaining mine! :D

Yes 2 copies are best, I have 2 hard copies, I also have it on PDF so I just print the page I need and take it to the garage with me :P
