Body filler?

Hello Gang-Just a simple one this time around-What have you found to be a good body filler,I have a few rust bubbles which i have just rubbed down and treated with- Jenolite- now i find that the new metal is just under the serface and so does not need a lot of filler,For small areas what have you found to be a good reliable product?(Good Overall Sticking POWER ).Best Regards Bill & Twinkle The Traveller.

Davids ISOPON or P38 filler is a good filler and easy to shape.
the secret is that the metal must be bright and clean and slightly
roughed up so that the filler has something to hang on to. When you
think that you have rubbed down the filler to a perfect finish then
try running your finger tips lightly over it. If you can feel any
imperfections then they WILL show through the paint,don't kid
yourself that you can apply thick paint to get over it.

Thanks Willie Ill keep all you said in mind, I have heard good reports on--U-POL-TOP STOP--used as a fine filler but has anyone used it , Over to you gang. Bill & Twinkle.

If you only need a very thin smear of filler; ie filling scratches and the like, cellulose stopper is the stuff to use, it doesn't require any hardener to be added, use straight from the tin.

My suggestion to correct slight pitting from the rust, would be to paint it in primer first then use spot putty or stopper (we have discussed this type of product in length in the thread "Gear cover thing"). I use Septone Blade Putty but surely you Brits will have a comparable product.

This is much better for this purpose than body filler as the sanding is much easier and you won't be fighting with sanding scatches etc on so small an area (use a fine sandpaper, better if dipped in water first). But don't use it for anything much over about 3mm depth.
