Gear lever gaiter - type 9 'box

Have fitted a 1275 A series engine with a Ford Type 9 5-speed g'box. I've shortened the hand brake lever by just over an inch to prevent the gear lever hitting the hand brake. Today I tried fixing the Ford gear lever gaiter which now catches the hand brake.

So, has anyone had similar problems with this modification and how was the problem solved?

hi i have just fitted a 1340 ital engine +5 speed ford box sorting out hand brake last week had to shorten the hand brake lever buy 2" then fitted the gaiter no problem then neil
