Hi all
has anyone got a diagram of the parts that make up the horn push, I dont think the button connector in the centre of the colum will cut it at mot time.

I was out fixing my indicator switch today so I thought I'd take some snaps of my horn push just in case you're still searching for parts.
All you need is a plastic tube with a stepped end, a spring, a washer that'll go round the horn wire bullet connector and an 'E' clip to hold the whole thing together. See the attached photos.
The plastic tube sits in the centre of the steering column, the spring provides the springing action for the horn button. The wire passes through the plastic tube and is held in place by the washer and the 'E' clip.

Im really chuffed that you posted that. I had forgotten all about this post. I got through the mot with a black plastic pushbutton through a piece of plastic (corsa interior light cover) and then tapped in to the wiring connectors under the dash. I had the plastic screwed to the vertical lip under the dash.
I think somthing suitable could ba fashioned from a larde plastic bolt, a spring and the E-clip.
I found one of these at the national in the bottom of a box, totally forgotten. the only other way I could see to get one of these was a second hand column. None of the suppliers I asked knew of the part, and the ones that did didnt know where to get it.

Hello everybody,
Contact, spring and insulator are missing on my car.
I can re-do them, but haven't any idea of size.
Andy, could you please give me roughly the dimensions of the insulator tube, the spring (wire Ø, external Ø, free length) and contact.
Hand made drawings on a pdf file will be great.

the thinner section of tube is small enough to fit into the column, the thicher section is the same as the outside diameter of the column, the spring must be a close, but free, fit on the plastic piece. the other end of the wire is soldered to the pin out of the side (not the square indicator cancaling pin)
the whole lot is about 1 1/2" long and just a tad shorter than it needs to be to touch the centre of the horn push.

please share it may be useful for the next person whos missing these, its frustrating.
If you have the wire spoke wheel dont to the screw in the side all the way, this will pull the centre into the push.
One think I had thought was to fit a cylinrdical push to make switch with a washer under the nut to stop it sliding down the shaft. One thing to watch out for is the current rating as the switch is permanantly live so you cant turn the horn off with the key when the contacts weld them selves together.

There's a guy on ebay selling the insulators and says it is the same as the MK1 mini.
