I suggest that anyone with special dietary requirements "brings their own" so they know they will be catered for. There will be a vegetarian option for the Saturday night party - I believe you mention this when you book the ticket. Do vegans make cakes

See, vegetarian is hardly a special dietary requirement; imho. Hell, down in the paradise park fair there were almost as many veggie stalls as there were 'normal' burger vans; and most of the 'normal' burger vans did some kind of veggie option.

But in my case, it's more of a whine, because I'm only likely to come for one day (if I come); and so don't really want to be bringing all the stuff to make food. It's nice when you're out and about just to grab something and call it a treat. At the end of the day, we can bring sandwiches, or whatever, with us. But it's nice to know before hand.

And yes, vegans make some excellent cakes ;-P

Really interested in the cake making as I know vegans dont eat eggs.

When hiring burger vans they all seem to do their own thing even if you request vegetarian menus as well, some seem to think the odd veggie sausage covers that, and then cook alongside the other burgers! It's a bit difficult to pin them down. A lot of people prefer to provide their own food so its also guesswork as to how many catering facilities will be required.

jacket potatoe stands are also good at shows,

a lot of the caterers at my local shows do a breakfast before 10 am
we also have indoor caterers , that provide say chicken, lasagna , etc

so do not have to stick with burger vans all the time

i am sure that next years rally would have to be re thought out as to what people want from these rallies

maybe it is time for a change

The vans are going to be provided by Stanford Hall so lets hope for a good range of food.

As previously suggested,

I think a better range of food at the shows would be an excellent thing; although I can hardly call myself a frequent attender, but I do feel like I've opened a bit of a can of worms here. Obviously there's quite a few of us who'd like more of a range to be available...

In terms of vegan cake recipes, the easiest thing to do is search the net, or dig out a cookery book; but there's one here: http://www.veganvillage.co.uk/recipes/chocfudge.htm

I had some excellent Vegan Lemon Cake at the London Zine Symposium a few weeks back, it was quite delicious and moist

I will contact the Tea rooms at Stanford Hall this week and see what they are offering in regards to veggie options!

The catering waggons are being provided by Stanford Hall and I suspect that they will offer the normal fare of Bacon, egg and burgers + cups of tea etc.

I think they should bring in the people who are always at the NEC classic motor show who make full english breakfast in a pie, fantastic!

Not that it is car related, but the fantastic array of 'non-burger-van' food vans at the average folk festival makes my mouth water just thinking about them.
Some of them also sell burgers for the bloodthirsty.

Now you've made me think of a new web rally for next year...
