food at national

What food will be available at the national? and do you think I should bring my own food? Thanks

Food is likely to be a burger van...

I would be inclined to bring your own food ;)

Frank,

1) Stanford Hall has a tea room which serves a range of food, not burgers etc.
2) Stanford Hall is providing the burger vans and hopefully ice cream wagons.
3) The party ticket sat night includes a Hog roast in a bun type thing.

4) two pubs are quite close to the site about 1/2 mile away in the village.

Since you seem to be in the know, will Stanford Hall be providing any veggie (ideally organic and veggie) burger vans? I know it'd probably only be me and Kathryn using it, but hey...

It might be wise to bring some supplies.

I'm veggie too and having made the mistake last year of thinking there would be something for me to eat I'll be taking my own food this year. There was a choice between chips, chips with salt & vinegar, chips with ketchup or chips with curry sauce

I seem to remember there were a couple of veggie burgers (what they were cooked in lord alone knows)

I have the greatest respect for people who choose to eat different food from myself; but I can't help thinking of the line from H2G2 that goes something like this: "I know a great many vegetables who would disagree with that"

Now I'm sure that we'd all agree that lettuce, carrots, dandelions, grass, nettles, and similar plants could be considered as vegetarian food (not being insulting, just meaning that they are not "meat"). Free range rabbits, together with well reared sheep and cattle (not intensively farmed stock) eat nothing but the aforementioned non-meat food. It follows therefore that "meat" from those animals is purely green (and orange) vegetable fodder in another form. Given that, it must be safe for vegetarians to eat..... As they say in all good exams "discuss" - but please don't, it's light-hearted

Now my own gripe is that I want decafinated tea and coffee, but only by the non-chemical process.......

this is getting far too serious im brining my own gas stove so i can have what i like .people like to eat what they like to eat,please accept that fact,and respect peoples opinions,weather they are veggie,vegan,or eat meat.i will be drinking lots of tea and cakes

I found that the caterers last year were fine. My son and I happily survived on thier bacon rolls for the whole weekend!

I did make my own cups of tea all weekend though!

Well I didn't try it Ray but it was the colour and consistency of dirty washing up water so there's a fair chance that it was

who's on the cake rota?

Well, see, I can only say my presumption was based on the fact that at the last national rally I went to I don't recall anything but your standard burger van. And at most car rallys I've been to, there's not been anything but burger vans.

I'm not a strict veggie, but prefer veggie when available... and having recently given in and eaten an ordinary burger when the veggie one looked quite unappetising at an event I'm more inclined to stick to veggie food...

I suggest that anyone with special dietary requirements "brings their own" so they know they will be catered for. There will be a vegetarian option for the Saturday night party - I believe you mention this when you book the ticket. Do vegans make cakes?

Anyone got a cow they can bring - nice fresh organic milk wont have to bother with the fridge!
