was tightening a nut today which had a spring washer under it. Both were brand new. The washer spread out and ended up oval, giving no spring at all - had to take the nut off and put on a different washer.
Does this happen a lot? Seems odd

Yeah, I read that. I'm happy with spring washers cos then I can put a leedle bit of copper slip on the thread and have a better chance of getting the thing undone in six years' time. top nut holding driver side engine mount rubber to front plate. So, given that my front panel is off atm, it was just a question of puzzlement and a bit of lost time, rather than major hassle.Which bolt did you have the problem on?
