The pickup came to me with no paperwork (it's being chased up, but I'm not holding my breath). I do know the registration number, but of course the chassis number has long gone with the door card fairies (and it appears the chassis number I did find is for a different vehicle).
I notice the V62 asks for the VIN/ chassis details as well as the reg, is that absolutely vital or can/ will they provide a V5 with just the reg and my details?
I need to be getting the paperwork sorted asap as the pickup needs to be completed and moved fairly quickly!

It was last on the road 20 years ago - Trying to trace an MOT cert might prove... Tricky.dunketh wrote:I know its a long shot but you can find the chassis number from an old MOT cert.
An old MOT should be traceable using just the registration number.
That said, I dont know the process for acquiring a vehicles history but I assume it involves a fee to DVLA.
It looks as though I might be able to do it through BMH, but that seems a costly and time consuming method if I don't actually need the chassis number for the DVLA.
Certainly in the past I never filled in the chassis/ VIN when applying, but times have changed and money grabbing red tape fanatics have taken control of everything, so I'm bot so sure any more

So I went and prodded at the DVLA website ('cos the owner of Jejy's still failed to find her V5, or any of the other documents from owning the car for 30 odd years, sadly); and it's 25 quid! Good grief. For a new V5?!
