And want to get the lense off the access the mounting screws to the wing - what is the procedure for removing the front lense?

Thanks

It's a bayonet type fitting. Push the lens in and turn it anticlockwise, being careful not to turn it too far or the reflector will hit the sidelight bulb and smash it.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

The mounting screws on original units are studs set into the base unit with nuts behind the wings. In theory you don't need to remove the lens, "just" undo the nuts. Of course, years of rust & crud may mean that the studs shear off and you have to replace them with bolts.
