I'll be there with the stall, but the van is looking unlikely after last night...
Think it'll live again, but probably not in time for the national

Hi,
Yes, bit of a sickener really....
It was a Vauxhall Corsa on a bend on a single track lane just up the road from home. Wet road and fresh greasy tarmac - we both skidded about the same distance.
Just got back from checkup at local hospital "we dont do Xrays till Friday"
Seem ok myself I dented the dashboard with right knee, broke the headlamp switch off and dented the dash again with my left hand and broke the sunvisor with my head...
Now as to the van! Think Gaffa will live gain. Chassis seems straight and all the damage is on the RH side. LH wing is ok. Looks like I might get away with flitch and flitch extension + all the outer panels obviously. It steers and stops ok (Well as good as it ever did) as we towed it home behind the modern. Doors seem to work and fit as well as they did and the dent on the dashboard can stay as part of its patination...
Not got the bonnet open yet so there could be more probs. Wouldn't be surprised if the engine is tight against the bulkhead but we'll see...
I'm rather tempted to do a few late nights and get it to the national, but guess I'll have to wait for the insurnace guy to see it and declare it a write off, before I get stuck in...
cheers

It would be really helpful if you could apply before the event as it will speed up entry to the site. Application forms can be downloaded from the main web page.
I'm applying in advance - a) cos it's cheaper, and b) cos I'm interested to see the info pack which is being sent out - I like to know what I'm doing and what's what!

Take lots of photos of the damage, contact the insurance co, and ask if they will accept the photos as proof, as you want to repair asap.
Corsa didn't look too bad till we noticed the kink halfway down the roof and the dodgy door gaps... Also the transmission broke too as it started but no drive!
Managed to get the bonnet up on the van today and its a bit worse than I expected. Engine is off its mounts at one side and tight against the bulkhead. Gbox crossmemebr is bent, crankshaft pulley is flat and pushed into the timing chain cover. After prising the radiator away from it, it did start and run, but sounds poorly... The new dynamo I fitted last week is broken off its mounts too...
Probably be bringing my lowlight on the trailer now as an alternative Minor.
Have got a boring amount of pics for the ins co. though!
cheers
