Note the moulding around the bottom of the roof (below the rear window). Not correct for such an early car i would say. :-?

It is a bit odd though...

If we have to believe the chassis number it would date to 1948

(I think the export cars started at SMM/5501, a friend of mine has SMM/5528)

I can't read the whole chassis plate though, I think there are too many digits in front of the /

The plate on my car does not mention Australia as this one does. Mine is a feb 1950. I dont know when the CKD started out here. Though I have also owned a 1953 series two car that made no mention of australia on the plate either so who knows?

A reply from OZ,

I just want to say that I bought my Tourer about 12 years
ago and in those days I was ridiculed for buying an OLD SIDEBANGER. They where just not really valued, as the later cars where.

BUT

Of recent times many more are now being restored and are now being loved for what they are. Something of a bygone era.

I can hear all you English turning green with envy over our
population of Low Lights, but please remember that Morris Minor
Travellers where NEVER officially sold here in Australia and Convertables are quite rare as well, in any model. So there's a YING for your YANG.
It all evens out.

Hey, just look at the extras the green one has.

Vehicle Features & Options
Anti-lock Braking Metallic Paint Special
Alarm System/Remote Anti Theft Power Mirrors
Cruise Control Power Steering
Central Locking Radio Cassette

Sounds like one hell of a car.
