MAK 971G

Post by Cookedskunk »

Hi, this is a long shot and I'm sorry if I'm wasting peoples time but I was wondering if anyone knew if a pale blue 2 door moggy was still in existence. She was bought around 1980 by my mother from my school teacher in Harrogate N. Yorks when I was very young and moved with us to Essex when it was finally sold around 1989. There have been rumoured reports of her in good health but none since the mid 90's. I'm aware that the chances of survival are not entirely favourable but if still around I'd like to know and maybe in the future she could be back with the family. Of course, if still about she'd some other family's pet! Any information as to her health would be greatly appreaciated. Mat.

According to the DVLA she's not currently licenced, and hasn't been since 1998... :-? but being SORN'd doesn't necessarily mean she's lost! :)

Thanks for the info, hopefully she's in a nice barn somewhere  But if she's not to be found I'll no doubt adopt another worthy cause :D

If the car is being 'Sorn'd then it probably does still exist. You can pay a small fee and give 'good reason' to DVLA to find the current owner from their records.
Sadly - it's not on Sorn - and so unlikely to be around now unless as you say hiding in a barn........

Though ISTR somebody recently tried this and reported that DVLA said 'I want to buy it' isn't a good enough reason.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

But seemingly - 'I want to fine them for parking in my ground' IS a reason!!

Well I am now confused, what has this to do with the DVLA refusing to pass ownership details on to somebody which I can unfortunately understand the data protection act ect although why they cant pass your details on is beyond me.
Cheers

Thanks for all your help people, I'll be looking for a project car in the near future and will be back asking all sorts of technical questions as I'll be diving in at the deep end whatever the condition of the car.
