Wiring bolts together

Post by youngun »

On the back of the engine where the scroll seal, there are 3 bolts that have to be wired together. Is this necessary? and if so what wire should i use and is there any particular method to doing it properly?

thanks,
YG

Hello YG,

quick and easy if you have the right tool:-

http://highriders.co.uk/Safety-Lock-Wir ... r-592.html

These days stainless steel wire is the usual material. Basically the special pliers are locked onto the wire after it is threaded through the drilled bolt heads (run so as to tension against the direction of unscrewing) and by pulling on the central knob spins the pliers and so tensions the wire.

You can either use spring washers or Loctite, if you don't fancy doing it the original way.

Haven't seen them 'wired'. Never known them to come loose - but if worried - Loctite.
