Ignition warning light

Post by Bazzalucas »

I just finished replacing my dynamo with an alternator from a '74 Midget. I followed the wiring advice found elsewhere on the forum, but my ignition warning light comes on when the key is off, and goes out when the key is turned to the OFF position! I checked the small yellow/green wire coming from the alternator, and there is 12V coming from it. Do I have a duff alternator? Thanks.

Depends where that wire is going - it should go to the ignition light - the other side of which should be live only when IGN is switched on. If there is 12v on the little alt terminal when it's not turning, then yes - something wrong with it.
