Brakes, sure it's been asked before...

Hi,

How easy is it to fit one of the disc brake conversion kits and reservoirs? I'd say I'm average on doing things on cars (well the cars still work afterwards).

It is fairly easy. If you can change a wheel bearing and change a brake master cylinder then you should have no problems. The kits usually come with clear instructions anyway.

To fit the remote reservoir is a bit of a pain as you need the MC out to get the cap off the back.
If that doesn't worry you, then the rest won't be much more difficiult

The hardest bit is drilling out the suspension legs to take the larger diameter bolts. Ideally you need one of those vertical bench drill thingies but I managed with a cheap workbench, G-clamps and a steady hand.
Go for it though, the Ford (spit) based kit is 110% value for money.

There's a thread running on "Marina Brakes" at the moment that says everything; and some others on the Ford conversion. There's no right answer as to which is best, you pays your money and you takes your choice! Whichever kit, you use, they're worth it.
