Can I still come to the national rally?

Post by moggiemadman »

Hi guys. Am I still allowed to come being as I'm not a member? Because the form asks for membership number.

According to the article in this month's Minor Matters "to gain access you will need your MMOC membership card".

I invited friends of ours last year. They just turned up and paid at the gate.

It's always been usual for general members of the public to be allowed in at rallies. This helps to publicise the car and the club to a wider audience.

According to the Stanford Hall website admission to the house and grounds is £6 or £3 for admission to the grounds only. Admission prices are however subject to increase on event days and there is a 'special admission price' for the National but it doesn't specify how much this is. It doesn't state that you will be refused entry if you don't have a MMOC membership card :o

I'm not sure why it states in Minor Matters "to gain entry you will need your MMOC membership card". :-?

Perhaps someone involved in organising the National could clarify this?

"to gain entry you will need your MMOC membership card".
Maybe they don't want anyone to bring friends and family along?
I expect it's more of a communication error rather than a ban for non members.

I would agree with your view Ray that it's probably a communication error.

Members of the public will be welcome to enter but will be parked away from the MMOC area. If you have an MMOC card you will be able to park closer to the rally field ( not sure how much closer!) making it easier to return with all those parts !

Hope that helps to resolve the query. Stanford Hall will be charging the Same as us on the day £15 per car but for one day only.

As it's the National celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Minor, what if the non member/member of the public, arrives in a Morris Minor?

Hi,

What is the closing date, if there is one, for postal entries to the National.

(sorry my latest Minor Matters is 100 miles away and as yet un-read!)

Cheers

As I believe that there will be many enthusiasts attending the rally that are not MMOC members, I really think that an answer to this question would be appreciated.

Hi,

You are more than welcome to attend as a non-member using the application form. The only differanceis that you will need to pat 15.00 instead of £12.50.

I am not sure what Stanford hall will charge on the day but it likley to £15.00 per day, whereas the MMOC pre book allows you entry friday PM camping and the rally on both days.

If you can pre book it wolud be much appreciated as it speeds everything up on the day.

Thanks

Sorry Andrew, I think you may have misunderstood. In view of what you said previously (see below) non members would like to know if they will be allowed to park with MMOC members, or if they will be parked in a totally separate area as it seems you are suggesting?

Seems perfectly clear to me. Members of the public i.e. non MMOC members will be parked away from the MMOC area.

If that's what Andrew means then that has answered the question. Just seems a bit silly that on the Morris Minors 60th Anniversary National Rally, which should be about the car, not the Club, there will apparently two clearly defined groups of enthusiasts, those that belong to the Club, and those that don't.

I totally understand that, but if you read the question again you will find that I was talking about Morris Minor owners that are not members of the Club. So do you mean that these too will be out of sight?

As you can see the question has still not really been answered, and with respect I think it is for Andrew, as the organiser, to answer.
