Another new Minor owner

Post by MGFmad »

Hello

Thought I should do a post to introduce myself as I will likely be on asking plenty questions over the next few months

My wife has always liked Morris Minors and for years she has though about getting one. A few weeks ago we finally went for it and bought a 1968 Traveller. As you can see from the photos it needs a bit of work  but it will keep me busy over the summer.

Main work areas are
new sills (both sides)
new drivers floor (replaced last weekend)
front n/s chassis leg to be replaced
new front wheel arches and inner wings - they could be patched but I want to make a decent job of it.
Replace the wood (sides only - the back is good)
Full respray

I got all the panels delivered last week so its all systems go.

Hi, welcome! So we'll see you at a few rallies later in the season when you've done the few little jobs!

How about coming to our National Rally - details at the top of the website (home page) and meeting a few more "addicts" for friendly advice and suport. :D

Will do, I am planning to keep a photo record of the work done, I bought a front section replacement - its about 60cm (2') long - worst part of the job will be chopping out all the old metal and measuring to make sure its in the right place, luckily I have a friend who is a retired panel beater - he keeps me right with the proper procedures.

Welcome indeed - just a hint, Its useful to put your location in. Theres loads of people here from all round the country so if you ever get stuck or have difficulties there may be someone local to help.

Welcome! Nice looking Travvie there. Hope your jobs go well and you get it on the road. Remember, Minors are for using every day, not just for the odd day in the summer!

Any questions just ask!

Update

Post by MGFmad »

I have finally got to the stage where I am making the Traveller look better rather than worse :D

The new front end is complete and to give me an incentive to carry on, I painted the engine bay. At least I have some shiny new paint to looks at.

Rapid progress in just over two weeks! Well done.
I assume from your 'name' that you have an MGF? Have you considered coming along to the Bo'ness Classic Show on June 15th at the Steam Railway. I'm Guard for the day, and my TR7 will be there - come along and introduce yourself. Free steam train ride for all entrants. Entry from Charlie Reid 01three1 661 42seven6

Progress is not normally as rapid - I had a weeks holiday and used it to work on the car. I do have an MGF as my daily driver - thanks for details of the show in Bo'ness, not sure if I will manage but you never know :D
