Ignition switch replacement.

Post by FlyingScot »

The thread on my ignition switch has worn to the point that the chrome nut fell off as I drove it last week.
I got a replacement on fleabay and fitted it this evening.
I was wondering how hard it would be to swap the barrels to let me use the two nice new keys I had recently had cut for the old switch.
On a whim I tried the old key in the new lock, the profile was very different between the two keys.
Works a treat!
Not very secure but I'm pleased! :D

Not hard. IIRC there is a small hole in the side of the housing. You put the key in, push a pin into the hole, and use the key to pull the barrel out. I can't remember whether you do this with it turned to the 'off' position or the 'run' position, but one or the other should work.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
