Oil Filled Coil?

Post by alanworland »

Today I was having a rummage in the loft when I came across the original coil fitted to my MM. Instinct made me give it a shake, and I couldn't hear the oil! It doesn't look like its leaked, I though all ignition coils were oil filled for cooling purposes? Did they have an oil filling? The coils dated August 52

I don't think you're actually supposed to hear the oil...

the decent coils you won't as it is completely full, there have been quite a few around recently which are 1/2-2/3 full where you will prob hear a slight slosh noise and these should be mounted vertically, with the terminals at the bottom.
