Ah -ha. Very interesting. The only 8 port heads I have seen and worked with have been cross-flow, the inlets being at the 'front' when installed in a Mini. I'm guessing this head allows use of the standard design of camshaft ?

Yes, its being set up to run 4 bike carbs, It should be going on the dyno next week, and their hoping for 100bhp, out of a 970cc. Just got to talk the old man into letting me have one for my pickup.

Not seen one of those before - I was also expecting to see a cross flow head!

This head was designed before the cross flow. You do need to change the cam, as the valves go inlet exhaust, inlet exhaust, inlet exhaust, inlet exhaust.

Ah - same as the cross flow then! Just never ever heard of it - and I saw the very first 8 port crossflow heads on Works Rallycross cars at Cadwell Park (many moons ago now) - and shortly after I was involved in the build up of an Arden crossflow 8 port (Works Assisted to Private owner) engine which went very well indeed! Fantastic torque throughout the whole rev range even with a 300/300 cam fitted.

Couldn't get link to work. But why make it non-crossflow ?? I imagine most prospective sales will be to Mini owners - and the carbs on the bulkhead side will be a real nuisance!
