number

Post by Willie »

That number is not the normal type for a Minor. Where are
you, and what were you told about the year of manufacture
and what is the engine number(under number one spark plug).
The correct chassis number should be on a plate next to the
fuses on the bulkhead.

chassis number

Using the number part only then your car was built between
September 1962 and September 1963?. The 'D' at the end
probably means'De Luxe'. The A indicates an A series engine
The T means a Tourer, the 5 means a series five car. The
first letter should be M for Morris. The first 'D' denotes the
colour which I think would have been Trafalgar Blue, but not
sure.

I think the first D means deluxe... I've got a D in my chassis number, and Gaydon have confirmed that Phyllis has always been black!

If memory serves me correctly(too many nights!!) the Morris Minor Centre (Bath) have a website that has lists of the chassis and VIN numbers that you can compare to yours. I can't remember the www. address, but if you do a search that should bring it up.
Good Luck :)

All you can tell from the VIN is its an orignal deluxe convertible RHD and its a series 5 1098. If you want to spend some money you could get a heritage certificate from gaydon
