Sierra Gearbox. Which one?

Post by fiftyfiveSII »

I have a Marina 1275 and a worn Sierra gearbox. I am not sure which one to replace it with! Are the boxes the same fit from different models of Sierra?
Any advice welcome!

I have no real idea - but everyone refers to the Type 9 box. Someone who does know will be along in a minute!

The type 9 fitted to the diesel has a longer first motion shaft, so it must be a box from a petrol car that is used.

He's also a member of the ford transit forum... generally trying to scavange type 9 boxes ;)

You ideally want the gearbox from a 1.6 or 1.8 sierra. You need the cast iron one with a removable bellhousing

btw if someone knows where there is a type 9 with bellhousing from a diesel transit I would be interested....

Sorry but I am having to delete all of Shabs's postings as they have a commercial link to his own company and this is not allowed under the terms and conditions of the board. He can of course remove the link from his signature and then continue as a non commercial poster.
Cheers
