tin worm treatment

Hi Gang-During the past few weeks i have noticed that the old girl has one or two blisters ( very small ) coming through on the body work near the drivers door,When the better weather comes-when-I intend to mini grind them out and treat the metal,What have you tried to cure the metal before applying the paint-in other words what have you found as a good rust killer /converter.Best regards Bill&Twinkle the traveller.

The only real way to cure rust is to remove it. Otherwise you will just slow down the eventual rust process. But if it's not bad then use Jenolite as Steve suggests.

To completely remove rust pitting I use a Twist Knot Wire Cup Brush that fits on an angle grinder:

It removes ALL the rust but be careful as if the rust is bad (through to the other side) then it leaves a hole which then has to be welded up.

and i assume it doesn't like nice flat painted surfaces much......

Not really no........... but if you want to get rid of the rust that's eating your nice flat painted surfaces then it's a pretty good tool!

i can vouch for using a wire cup brush too.

I sorted out the rust on the bottom of my housemates Citroen using my new angle grinder. It works really nicely.

It was a small risk to take, i thought it would be best to test it before applying to my poor minor!
