Is there a particular relevant date the MMOC is celebrating that marks the official 60th anniversary?

hummmm

well it was launched at the earls court motor show 20th Setember 1948 so assume production started soon before or after that date. Its as good as any I suppose

when production 'starts' is not usually easy to declare as the lines are usually operated for trial runs before hand and usually some things not fully finished afterwards. Morris even sold prototype/development vehicles to the public when they'd finished with them.

Therefore an 'official launch' is usually a good date to work from.
