Main Bearings

Post by lalaw »

Hi,
I bought new main bearings from ESM but they where abit different then the ones on the engine (or 3 of them).
There where 3 bearing that looked just like the ones on the engine but 3 of them where flat and didn't had the hole for the oil.
Which should be at bottom and which on top?

What they have supplied sounds like the later main shells for the 'A+' engine - these were first used on the Metro Turbo and then spread out over the whole range. The load capacity is quite a bit better. However - in the A+ the little 'tang' for loacating the shell is in the middle of the plain shell where normally it is at the edge of the shells with central gutters. If this is so they won't fit your mains caps unless you are prepared to file a matching 'nick' in the cap. Let me know please if they have made plain shells with the tang at the edge!
