HOW much Buy It Now?

Post by theminorsite »

Its not often, genuinely, that I take issue with what someone else reckons their Moggy is worth. Beauty, and therefore value, is in the eye of the beholder and all that. If you think your car is worth xx %age more than the book price then good luck to you - I hope you achieve it.

All that said, look at the Buy It Now price for this (incomplete, non-standard, non-running) van. http://tinyurl.com/2uun9y. I think the nicest thing I can say is Hahahahahahahahaaa...

Worth every penny - to the owner! Worrying that he has no chassis plate - and it's not clear if he has a V5 for it!

The really funny bit is where he says "I'm gonna lose a fortune...". I'm desperately trying to work out what he thinks it would have been worth if he'd finished it, but I've run out of buttons on my calculator

I think he's referring to how much he's spent on the restoration, which could easily be over £5K if he's paid specialists to do the work for him.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

You're probably right and he's confusing what its cost with what it must be worth. Using that critiera, I've got a Traveller that'll be a complete steal at only £15,000 over the years...

Look like Ford wheels to me, rear possibly from a MK4 Cortina or Capri of the same era.

lol..
People keep telling me to ask for more when I sell mine.

There's this whole misconception that age and curiosity = money.
It doesnt!

An incomplete car is still an incomplete car.
In my particular case, a rough car is a rough car.

We're not talking pre-war Jensens here.

Have I missed something? The current price (though reserve not met) as I write this is £965. If it is as solid as it looks and includes all the other bits such as the Fiat engine etc, surely it's a good price?
