Seats again, this time Ford.
Has anyone fitted fiesta seats to their car. I've just been to collect a bargainous set of Fiesta SI seats which are going into the trav. If anyone has a how-to or something like that it would be grand. If not I might have to write one up when I do it!

I seem to recall someone fitting seats from an early 90's Fiesta, but this was way back in the days before the forum before this one...
IIRC, they had to make up a set of legs to raise up the back of the seats. Have had a bit of a trawl, but so far no pics.

Custommartin says its easy! (In case the above's not working try this place for Jan17, 2005 entitled "Other - New seats for long journeys")
On his recommendation I've got two fiesta seats and am about to install them. I'll let you how it goes. MikeN.

Well Dan how yer doin'?
I've got a Fiesta seat into the passenger side using 1cm waterproof ply as a base and packing, and I've hinged it at the forward edge so it tilts upward for access to the rear seats. BUT as the seat doesn't fold and the headrest doesn't come out, only contortionists, small animals and children will be able to get in there. No problem for me 'cos the rearseats have only been used twice in 25 years (literally) and I'm thinking of taking them out and converting to a two seater.
Fitting was striaght forward and easy. My Fiesta seats have flat, drilled, easy to boltdown feet on three corners except the forward inner ones (nearest the gearstick) which has a piece sloping down about 2 inches long. This I sawed off and then drilled the new end so it could be secured. The set is bolted to a panel 19 inches long by 18 inches wide of ply. It needed 1 cm of packing between the seat and panel for inner feet (ie nearest the handbrake) to level the seat. 5/16 inch BSF bolts were used to secure the seat to the panel, the same as go thro' the floor.
To attach to the floor, I've bolted a piece of ply 2 inches wide by 12 inches long by 2cm thick (made up of 2 pieces of ply screwed together on top of each other) to the floor -you need longer bolts than the originals to bolt it down - and then hinged the seat base panel to this with a pair of door hinges. The seat panel needs 1cm of packing srewed along its front edge to line up properly.
Finally the rear of the seat panel has a block three inches high by 12 inches wide by 1.5 inches thick to take up the drop of the car floor in the rear passenger foot well. The Fiesta seatbelt attachment has been removed form the seat itself, and the original attachment on the propshaft tunnel is used. It looks OK and seems secure - I'll see how it goes on the road before modding the driver's seat.
Dan, if your Fiesta seats don't fold either and you need to use your rear seats you may be interested in the Metro seats I'm removing. They're OK, a bit tired but intact and on the raised beds you need.
Regards, MikeN.

Fiesta seats are great.
Much narrower than Metro seats so you avoid all the clearance issues and , as said, they have flat feet.
Might be worth noting that Escorts from the same era have the same seat fittings.
Escort Recaros anybody? SI Wingbacks? They're all cheap and easy to get hold of.

I've been banging on for ages about how easy these seats are to fit and it is good to know that someone (on MY recommendation - GULP!) has found the same.
Yep, you do lose rear leg room but it all depends how tall you are I guess (I'm 6ft 5'').
Cheers

Hi just another one to consider is the seats from a Suzuki Alto. I have a set that I fit temporary before any long moggy runs. They fit in the moggy easily. The base is level and you can modify them quite simply.
I left the running adjusters on and made an upside down goal post type frame from round bar so it would reattach by using the original moggy fixing. The runners have holes in all four corners so you can bolt frames on or weld through them.
Hope this might help

To "mstevens".
I've had no response to my PMs to you regarding delivery arrangements. Just in case the PMs have gone pear-shaped, will you please post a message here that you still require them. If there's no message here by midnight this Sunday (the 11th) I'll assume you've declined them. (I do really need the room!) Regards, MikeN.
