It's the ned of the day

Post by Peetee »

I'm at work tomorrow and I'm too beyond it to work out why my indicators blow the fuse when turnng right. Removing the front bulb doesn't solve the problem so it's either the wiring to the front or any part of the rear. It was brand new front to back, set up to take the place of the original trafficators. It worked fine until last week when (although it may have nothing to do with it) I washed Albert. The relay is dry, so too are the indicator bulb assemblies. If it isn't a snagged feed wire somewhere what else could it be?

One trick I use with this sort of fault is to wire a bulb in place of the fuse as its shorting it should light the bulb if it goes out after unplugging certain lights or wiggling wires etc that is where the short is likely to be

Disconnect the wiring curcit for the offending indicator wherever you can. Connect from the start and work towards the indicator, one bit at a time. You should find where the short is.

Not sure what everyone else thinks 'ned' is but it was just a witty rework of 'end' to emphasise I was beyond it. 8)

I assume nothing, except that you're not a Scot. Neither am I, but my father is, and I lived in Glasgow for a few years...

My folks north of the border have talked about "NED's", apparently (as Biginger got it) it stands for Non Educated Delinquent and is the Scottish equivalent of Chav.

For those of you more interested in the electrical problem than the regional one ( ) the cause of the shorting was a dodgy indicator unit.
