Hi All
Many moons ago I had a Rover 2600, (I now have a Moggy Traveller, a newbie) Anyway Rover would not start, checked fuel, plug sparked out of cylinder. I spent 2 days cleaning fuel supply carb etc. In steps my father in law, ex BMC mechanic of 60's. Put the distibutor cap in the oven and warm it up he said. As a last resort I did it, thinking he has lost it, put cap back on and it fired up. Well obviously a hairline crack in the cap and failing only when the spark plugs were under cylinder pressure, so if you think the distributor cap may be the problem warm it up and if it works, well get a new one. Just like a woman warm them up and they work!
Good luck
Colin
