Wide wheels

Post by Shakey80 »

I currently have a set of Minator 13J wheels with pirelli p3000 tyres on my morris. I do not like the look of them, and would like something a bit more origional. However, I do not want to sacrifice the good handling of my current wheels!

Would there be a significant difference between my current wheels and the origionals? Ideally I would like a set of wide, but origional looking wheels. Is this worth it, and if so, does anyone know where I could get a set? I am relatively inexperianced with this kind of thing, so they would need to be something that can just be bolted on with minimal modification.

Cheers, Jake

It depends on your set up. What engine do you have? If its a standard 1098 or 948 there is nothing wrong with the standard wheels with 145 tyres.

This message board is like a family - you can't choose the other members!! But remember engine oil is thicker than water.

Yes, its the standard 1098 setup. I guess i'll try and find some standard wheels, then. How much do you think my current ones are worth? They are in good condition, and the tyres have plenty of tread.

I have some photos, but do not know how to post them up here! I will see if I can PM them to you.

The previous owner paid £200 for the wheels plus exchange for the origional ones. Since that, they have covered about 1000 miles.

They are really nice wheels, but I prefer the look of the origionals in this car. Just personal preference really!
If the origionals handle just as well as these, I don't really see the point in keeping them....

Originals will NOT handle anything like as well as these! They are much narrower - and the tyres available for the standard wheels are very basic and not exactly oozing grip!
