Austin Pickup - exterior trim

Post by mattcmgb »

Hi all,
Can anyone tell me the differences between Morris and Austin exteriors?

For example I know the Austin has no bonnet flash on front and has square austin badge. Should the have the side flashes (bonnet trim). What type of wing mirrors? Are the door identicle to the 4 door saloon?

I'm trying to get my pickup as original as possible (on the outside). Also what blue paint colours where used for Austin pickups?

Were the indicators and sidelights combined?

I believe it should have the crinkly/wavey front grill ( I have one of these) if so what colour is the grill?

Sorry for the barraige of questions

I wasn't aware that the Austins had no bonnet flash, just that some of the later cars didn't. No side flashes though. If it's a series 5, (as most of the survivors are) then yes, combined light. The grille - I'll have to look that up, but FWIW, all of mine are black :)

Ok as far as I know Austin badged LCVs had the same exterior looks except for the badge on the bonnet and crinkly grille not sure what colour this should be but the one I have is polished aluminium! also the badge on the steering whell is Austin but the bonnet had no side mouldings and the flash was a case of hit and miss on later cars I've seen some morris vans without it but then again the bonnet could have been of an Austin badged van
