I have a 1968 4 door saloon with standard 1098 engine + oil leak!!
The leak is apparently between the cylinder block front cover and the crank shaft pulley.
Would a replacement felt cover remedy the issue or is there another oil seal on the inside of the cover - the Haynes manual does not show one
Unless the leak is bad I wouldn't worry about it too much. A couple of drips from the timing cover/crank pulley area is quite common. Inside the timer cover, the oil seal arrangement varies depending on which cover is fitted. Later ones have a proper rubber oil seal, early ones are felt.
Sometimes the leak is from the timing cover gasket, and tweeking the little bolts that hold it on will reduce the leak. Sometimes the engine front plate is slightly bent/warped. Don't over tighten the bolts though, they are fairly low torque.
The part that is faulty is number 42 Felt-cover in the Haynes manual. However the diagram (Fig 1.1) in the Haynes manual is of an earlier engine. The later 1098cc engines use a rubber oil seal.
This part is 10M506 6 Seal, oil 1.65 ea in the http://www.morrisminor.org.uk/ website although all suppliers carry the same part.
You will need to remove the radiator and the starter dog which has been covered recently on this website. You will also need to remove the cylinder block front cover (or timing chain cover as it is usually called). You will probably also need a new gasket to go between the cover and the block in case you damage the old one.
It all takes quite a while and you need to be sure that the leak is bad in order to justify changing the seal.
