Hi,
I need to replace the rear bearings and seals of my 67 saloon. Can anyone tell me what size of socket I need to remove the hub nut. Also is either driver or passenger side reverse thread, if so which.
Many thanks in advance.

Seals yes - you may need to remove any 'groove' the old seals have cut in the hub to get new seals to work properly. Bearings are usually fine! But check the diff is not overfilled - and check the little breather on top of the diff housing is clear and not blocked.
Thats usually the reason, you get excess pressure inside the axel body and oil gets forced out wherever it can! Just unscrew the breather and soak it in some petrol then blast it through with an airline
Ultimate rust cure for your moggy....paint it brown, at least that way you dont notice the rust as much!!
You may find there is an invisible groove in the surface the oil seal runs on. I didn't believe there was a significant groove on mine but the new seals leaked almost as badly as the old ones. I wound up doing the job all over again, this time adding a piece of thick gasket paper as a spacer between the hub and the seal, so that the seal ran on a 'virgin' section of the axle. That cured the problem.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
