I'm spraying an area on the front of the bonnet of our 65 MM convertible from the top chrome flask to the bonnet lip. I have filled the dented area, levelled and smoothed then undercoated twice, have then used fine wet and dry as final prep. The top coat has gone on very well but on the 2nd coat two small areas have dried with an orange peel texture. I rubbed down and resprayed but it formed again.
Any ideas please? Thanks, John

Sounds like wax, or tack rag problems to me, did you clean off the primed surface with panel wipe. Sometimes if you do then wipe over with a tack rag the adhesives in the rag are transfered to the damp surface.
Is the problem area, where you have repaired the bonnet?.
Is the problem area where you have broken through the existing paint surface.
A long shot now, do you have moisture in the airline or are you using an airline on which you use oiled air tools

If it is only 'orange peel' you should be able to flat it out with wet and dry (wet) try 1000 grit and see how it goes, T cut then poish and you might be surprised how easy it is to remove!
My paint was all done outdoors and had a variety of orange peel, over spray and runs but it scrubbed up quite well in the end!

Thanks for the advice, I stripped the paint down to bare metal and built up again, but it did it again but not so bad. I rubbed the affected area down and was left with a small patch that looks like someone's shaken pepper over it! Not too fussed as it can't be seen and overall paint looks fab again, regards, John
