WINDSCREEN WASHER BOTTLE

Post by mickmorrissminor »

Hi, just got my first Morris 1000 after months of looking. The water has run out of my washer bottle and I can't find the bottle. The manuals mention the bottle but don't say where it is located in the car. Help please.... Thanks

As far as I know (though I have 6 Morris Minors and all have windscreen washers but no bottle!!!) the washer bottle should be on the right hand side inner wing just under the air intake tube for the heater

If it still has the original type, this is where it should be:

PS. Welcome to the world of Morris Minors! :D

Many thanks Alex, I've located it but it was tucked under a rather large hose which isn't shown in your engine bay. Filled it up now.

No idea why it was put there - seems illogical to me - but there they put it :D

They chose to put it there before they started building cars with the heater air intake in the engine bay. On the earlier cars that's a nice clear space as you can see in the photo.

Yup, I know that, it just strikes me that a little nearer the windscreen it was washing (on, say, the bulkhead) would have made more sense :D

Mine is on the bulkhead(1960 2D export model). Also, the bottle is large-ish. 1,5 litres or so? In any case, it´s useless without a working pump. Thread hijacking attempt: can a small 12V pentry pump from a boat be inserted into the tank and do the job?

Cheers /Richard

What's a pentry pump? You should be able to find a suitable electric pump at a scrap yard or a motor factors (assuming they have them in Sweden).

If it was dry - we would see the internal fins!

It had slightly oily rusty water in there when the photo was taken (it was just before I changed the head gasket for the second time).
