Ideas & Suggestions for the future of the MMOC

I think is more about presentation in the media. The mini made famous through The Italian Job and many rally competitions and race events. The Beetle promoted as the peoples car, and famous through 'Herbie'.
Both portrayed as the younger generation's car and cheap mobility of the masses.
The Minor was much more sedate and sold on its virtues of economy and size and not necessarily on fun.

Bill was yours a lone voice when raising the issues you mention. I'm probably not alone in thinking that your opinions are 'not that radical' and for your opinions to fall on deaf, or less sympathetic ears is baffling.
Makes you wonder what happens to the suggestions of 'free National rallies' more funds for the message board and concessions to those who could really benefit from them.
Maybe those expressing valid opinions on this thread are just viewed as 'the message board lot' after all its the same contributors nearly every time (a group of around 20) regulars. In the great scheme of things we are tiny, but I argue 'not insignificant' enough as to not try and change what we do not like.
It worries me that from the 12,000 plus members its only this small group who seem to actively take part in or start debate. Maybe everyone is content with what they get from the club or simply do not wish to contribute.

If you want to be even more daring, you could copy the e-mail to all the clubs with e-mail addresses. Then let them choose if they are the old stuck in there way club or not. Moreover, this might sway them to change. ON THE OTHER HAND, NOT!

Well we could certainly do with a livelier image of some sort I dont imagine that many of the beetle owners with the surfboards on the roof actually use them but they like the surf image.
I hate to say it as it will annoy some but we need the views of the younger members on what they would like to see in Moggie circles as we need their input to drive things forward to stop the stagnating nature we seem to have at the moment.

To help start the ball rolling remember that the Moggie has been used as a Rally car and Pat Moss-Carlsson started in one and that most of the tuning firms of the 60`s Alexander, Aquaplane, Downton, Janspeed, Oselli, Shorrock, Speedwell to name a few and all offered products for the Moggie, which then evolved into 1275cc engines & Fiat twin cams etc. and is a tradition still being carried on today using even more up to date mechanicals.

Happy to help where I can, but I can sympathise with Bill's comments about putting suggestions to the MMOC committee and getting little or no resonse which I find both rude and unfair on their paying members.

This may be a rather cynical view but I have always thought that the club is run by people who profit from it in some way and are therefore protecting their own interests rather than those of its members. Now this could be totally unjust and unfounded but it is how I see things. As an example it seems fair game for certain people to use the MMOC to advertise their own personal products but when others try to do the same they are refused, turned away etc.

I've decided to write something for Minor Matters encompassing some of the views from this thread. I also thought I'd explain how useful the site has been to me and talk a bit about my car (purchased from an ad on this site ). I'll send it off to the new editor asap. If Minor Matters don't publish it perhaps Minor Monthly will. It's worth a try

I'd like to bring to attention the Lancashire branches calendar again (well I don't actually like to, don't even want to think about it actually but need to for what I'm about to say next). Not a good image for the club, awful infact.
Adrian flux have brought out a calendar this year, using members of staff as the models and although they didn't use it in the final calendar they did a shoot with a moggie, nothing quite so X rated as the MMOC, but would definatley get my wall space if the club produced something like this:

I wonder if the MMOC would print this in the club magazine with Adrian flux's permission? no probably seen as the wrong image for the club.

My club membership renewal has just arrived and as I don’t use the insurance anymore due to cost sadly I am wondering what I actually get for my money apart from a magazine every couple of months.

It was in aid of charity I believe, and it did generate quite a bit of publicity including a ten minute piece on the local TV news.
