replacing the window on soft top moggy

Post by Vikki »

hi all, ive tried cleaning the plasic window but its beyond repair im gonna have a go at sewing a new one in, i'll probably really regret it once ive taken the old one out. but does any one know about doing this any tips welcome. i presume its pvc but will any pvc do? and where can i get it from theres none on ebay (that i could see) or in the haberdasheries in my town. the old window is sort of heated/melted on like the patterns in the seats can anything undo this or shall i just cut it out?
ive got seven weeks to get it sorted before my driving test and i can finally drive henry, my first car a 1969 convertible moggy.
thanks - vikki.

I don't know about the window, but good luck with your driving test! :D

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.

Hi,

Don't try it yourself unless you have industrial sewing machine. Also is your hood duck/mohair, as the everflex hoods have the window welded in not stitched. The people below could weld a new window in, or a new hood would probably be an idea. These people can help, with window or whole hood including fitting http://www.polyfacto.co.uk/

I'd ask around local camping shops and chandlers. This sort of thing should be right up there street and they'll probably be cheaper than a 'car' specialist.
What would Macgyver do..?

My wife made a new hood for the cabriolet. She hand stitched all of it.
