Dangerous ground making a program about cars as light entertainment. You would never expect a program about guns to be made in such a fashion, yet the car kills more people than guns.
Look at the programs safety record of late. Hammonds high speed wipe out, the wheel that fell off the reasonably priced car, Clarkson driving while unfit due to lack of sleep. Only a matter of time until something tragic happens IMHO.
Hmm never thought this

Aye that one had a bit of life and soul to it. I'd forgot the name of the car, and thought we were drifting into cookeryVikki wrote:ok no one got the 'oliver!!!' joke its about a man (hammond) and his love for his car (opel kadet) genious episode. lol.

I'm actually amazed they've not been in trouble with the law. I guess it proves most stunts are 'set up for TV'. For example, if you went to a campsite and set fire to a caravan I'm sure you'd get a damn good telling off.Look at the programs safety record of late. As for Oliver - I'd like an update!
Last mention was of RH bringing it over to the UK.
Whilst watching that episode I kept thinking 'My Minor would be ideal for this'

What would Macgyver do..?

Yes, I did get that reference, Oliver was the 1965 Opel that Hammond had to drive across Africa. BTW, I was surprised to see him and his project Vauxhall Firenza featured in a classic car magazine. They helped him with some welding instruction and showed him how to use a grinder. No skill, but at least some enthusiasm for restoration was evident.
