rear rubbers for windows: anything else I need to fit this?

Post by KirstMin »

Hi all,

I am going to replace the tired rubbers on my rear windows (convertible). eg:

Is there anything else I need to do this job? Do these need any sealant or is it a straight swap?

Many thanks!

That rubber is the wrong one. the convertible is a two piece rubber. The lower piece is similar to that area on the two door car but the upper is a rubber channel that fits into and around the whole curved metal piece that goes from the top of the door pillar to the rear inside the body of the car.

As to the original question, you should only need the two parts but as you have to undo a few little screws it might be good practice to get a couple of these too. The parts supplier should advise you what size they are. Be warned though, there is a specific way to dismantle the whole assembly. When the effects of the alcohol wear off I can advise you accordingly - unless someone gets there before me!
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.
