Do you think repro parts needs improving?

Post by FrankM83 »

Hi all just to get the wheel rooling, please vote as to your opinion, also I would like to suggest that maybe at rallies and meetings petitions are presented and members and also non members can fill their opinion and maybe this poll and petitions could be presented to manufacturers! and have a brighter future for our beloved cars!

Just to add that I'd be willing to pay more for parts that fit properly and last as long as the originals.

Might be an idea for the 'Branches 'to start a similar poll itemising the exact part ,manufactures, and retailer. Problems or praise can be listed to give a reasonably accurate representation of the problems encountered. :D

I would certainly agree with paying more for fit for purpose items that also last.
I will try and see if we can do a branch poll.
Cheers

Is this a matter of reverse supply and demand? The customer demands cheaper so they supply cheaper quality goods?

Must admit ive never been able to choose the expensive option where there was a choice, but if i could afford to wouldnt think twice.
Seems that even th quality of the better option can be dubious sometimes :(

Personally i think it will get better in a few years as hopefully the humble mog migth pick up in the market a little and prices might begin to reflect a better price for them.

I'd rather pay £20 for a part that will last 20 years than £5 for a part that only last for two years. Simple math.

well I always tend to wait a bit extra to afford the more expensive option, the genuine parts seem a poor fit but the pattern ones are much worse!!

It's a very nice thought isn't it, Quality parts built with with real craftsmanship that last for many trouble free years.
But when these big companys can produce rubbish and sell it for next to nothing, knowing full well more people would rather pay less but more often, then they'll carry on with the same atitude of 'the sooner it breaks, the sooner they'll be back for another one.' Shame. I put my vote in anyway, never know it might do some good.
cheers, Daniel

my headlamp rims are starting go rusty after 1 month on the car im not impresed with the chrome quality. Admittedly if the original tooling is now lost parts wont be exactly like originals but I would pay more better quality on some things

389 views and only 27 votes, you're obviously very happy with the quality of parts then, :o

That's the total count of page views not unique viewers. A lot of people look at the thread again every time a comment is posted.

Yes I know that, thankyou. Its still an indication that you all except 27 of you are happy with the state of affairs. Or do not think that a pro active approach is the correct route for change.
How many message board users actually want to improve the situation,( 4046) was it ? or is the emphasis for change still sat unfairly, and firmly on the traders shoulders to look after your interests?.
Hey ho  :D :D
