triumpf 1500cc engine in2 morris?? Austrian project

Post by schoenwolf »

This is an appeal for help with the conversion plans for a 4door 1955 Austrian registered MM that should be mated with a 1500cc Triumpf engine from a Dolomite 2gether with a 4speed overdrive box.
My mate who is doing the job (and has no internet) has prepared all the details and the body is ready to take the engine with one problem remaining: A very limited clearance between sump and ground. approx. 4inch/ 8cm!!
Our appeal is for anybody who has done such a conversion! knows about such a conversion, for any tips and tricks, or links where to read up on those to perhaps get more ground clearance!
Does anyone know if there were different sump types available for that kind of engine??.
Any response pls email 2: schoenf@rz.fh-augsburg.de I will relay any advice and promise photo coverage of the (hopefully) effective results !

Thanx in advance for any reply

I have in the past seen the Triumph Spitfire engine used but it was the 1300 engine.

The only reason I can see to do this swap is to get the o/d box - And is that really worth sticking the awful 1500 lump in..?

The 1300 is a far better engine (and is still not exactly brilliant), and better again if it's the small journal (late 60s) Herald/ Spit version.
