wing mirrors

Hi all, A happy New Year to you, right now that I have got that out of the way could somebody give me some guidance as to the exact spot I can fit some wing mirrors to mungo. I really need the distance from the wing part that folds down to where the headlight bezels meet the wing and the distance backwards towards the window pillar, and do I fit them right on the top of the curve of the wing or is it a case of just guessing. Your comments would be most welcome.

Personally if you dont have the holes there for them already I would seriously consider door mirrors.

You can see that mine are fitted on the top of the wing curve about 8-10 inches back from the light bezzel, so easily clear of the headlight buckets below.

When i eventually get my new front wings on I will be giving up the wing mirrors for door mirrors

I agree that door mirrors are much more effective. The visibility from my wing mirrors is awful. They're no better than ornaments

A nice set of convex rectangular wing mirrors work wonders.
And, you dont have to divert your eyes from the road ahead to look in them.

Passenger side wing mirrors are a complete waste of space though.

Yes - my 'wing' mirrors are absolutely excellent and no blind spot as there is with door mirrors. Properly adjusted and they give an excellent rear view. Modern cars should have them!

Perhaps the fact that I'm not particularly tall and have a saggy seat bottom is the problem

The mirrors were on the car when I bought it but perhaps longer stalks might help.

My 'other' cars have door mirrors and I find there is no 'looking in the wrong place moments' I think it is all about what you get used to, but I didn't want to drill holes in my new wings!

Hi, thanks for the replies, my wings at some point will need replacing, a couple of dents, so for the time being I thought I would tart 'em up a bit
there not serious dents but I know they are there.
I also have a pair of Tex Automotive door mirrors to put on the car. On the tex Automotive website the are M68990 with a base dim' of 79mm x 30mm
Would the size of the mirror bases look out of place or shoul;d I try and get some smaller ones. I don't really want to go to the expense of buying quarter light mirrors so I thought I would put both sets on the car. For cosmetic as well as functional mirrors. So what do you think.

I would guess if they dont look 'oversized' on a mini they'd look fine on a minor.
Personally I really dont like them. I think the quarter light ones would be worth the expense - more original looking and less 'clunky'.

I am looking at fitting a wing mirror for the passenger side, due to the fact of being vertically challenged and having to have wood plus rubber blocks to see over not through the steering wheel. In order to see in the door mirror passenger side I have to turn my head and look!!! which on the traffic heavy roads that I travel on means you just might miss the silly fella who is about to take out the front of your car as all he has seen is a little lady in an old car daring to dodder at the 40 mile an hour in a 40 mile an hour zone!!! but joking aside I do have difficulty in seeing in the passenger side mirror no matter how I adjust it.

Thanks for all your input , I have decided to put the wing mirrors on and leave the door mirrors off, as they look better and also it would as you say be a bit cumberson to see through the nearside door mirror.
