Engine numbers

Post by RogerRust »

Can any one help me with these engine numbers, approx year etc.

9-M-U-H 600929

10v/189E/H26813

RKM 1121E 56563

The last one is a silverseal - what is the difference between Gold and Silver seal engines?

thanks
Roger.

engine number

Post by Willie »

The 10V engine is a post March 1969 lump, high comp with a Dynamo
fitted. The only reference to an engine beginning with 'R' is for a Riley.
As you probably realise, the gold seal engines are more comprehensively
rebuilt than the silver seal type and cost more as a result. The 9M-U-H
engine was produced in early 1962.

Well I would have gone with Willie on the Riley designation for the RKM engine but I have just come across some info that shows Silver Seal engines to start with the RKM prefix and with Rogers numbers
RKM1112E 1275cc - Silver Seal unit for Clubman 1275GT, pre-A+
So is the last one a Transverse engine Roger.

A bit more info
All engines pre-fixed with 'GSE' or 'RKM' were of UNIPART origin when BL split its parts organisation.
'E' at the end of a part number denotes it is a reconditioned, service unit only (basic engine assembly with no ancillaries).
'N' at the end of a part number denotes a brand new unit.

No, it is a connected to a minor gearbox. Its a 1098 I think, and looks to be in good condition.
