Ok so what was the original saloon with the 1800 engine and twin carbs then a GT perhaps.

TC stands for Twin Carb as far as im aware... and were around 100hp (the same as the 1800 MGB) whereas the "cooking" 1800s were single carb and had around 80hp

Sorry, I dunno - only ever had single carb ones
Good to see your link to and Allegro - only ever drove one once, borrowed from girlfriend's mother. It caught fire...

'fraid not - a short under the bonnet on a V busy road in the middle of Bristol. Wrote the thing off (not hard, given the value of the car) IIRC, Quartic steering wheel and all

Had a look on the Marina site and they have a couple of members with MK1 1800TC saloons so my memory has not gone totally yet.

i had an allegro it should have been called agro worse car i had,the funny thing is the diff went so i went to the scrap yard and put a mini 1000 one under a 1275 it gave it loads more tourque,it was quite fast in the end i used to burn up xr3is in it.
