When i was doing the outer part of the front inner wing like Alex has just done, i used the single piece repair panel RP123AR (this one http://morrisminorspares.co.uk/shop/pro ... cts_id=971).
Because of the way its shaped, your left with a gap at the top between the hinge plate and the cover panel. But i made a small plate to cover this and the result looks very neat and i consider it far less of a rust trap than the other way of doing it (i.e. inner wing section then separate hinge cover). I will be doing the same on the other side as well for consitency's sake!
this is the panel in place

Wheel arch - further Kennat tip on shock absorber
Tku Kennatt. Was murder getting at the bolts holding the engine side of the shockabsorber block to be able to move the rod at the other end with a bit of knock with hammer to shift it off the spline. But it is now done.kennatt wrote:what you are looking at is the upper shock absorber arm,you just take the shock absorber off to replace the whole panel.
Now have to cut out the inner arch for which have a replacement panel.
The wiper motor has been attached to a big square metal box on the top of the arch forward of the engine side shock absorber block but this is not on the replacement panel. We think we will have to cut that block off the discared arch and reweld it on to the new one -- is that right?
I have not seen or been able to find anyone's efforts on the site or in technical manual of the cutting out and replacement of the whole inner arch (nearside front of traveller).
Then Will be doing the inner wing and A post as well while remembering the nice pictures you guys have posted and then and replacing the box (holed) panel and part of the floor. behind the kickstep.
I must try to take some photos of the arch work if that would be useful?
tks yr help.
I'd strongly advise that you leave as much of the old inner arch as possiblr as the new ones are a dreadfull fit, if you are doing a good job.
Simply drill out the spot welds on the wiper mount and measure accurately its position on the inner wing, then plug weld the drilled out holes to re fit. If you can send me your email address I'll gladly send you some pics which support my views on the quality of the panels you are about to fit.
