Trunnion Top link to Damper bushes
My Pickup has had an advisory on its MOT. The Trunnion top link bushes have perished after only 5 years and only about 2000 miles (I dont do a lot of mileage). Ive bought a new complete link kit, consisting of new bushes the link pin and the various nuts/washers. My question is how much do I tighten up the nut, do I just tighten it up enough to nip up the bushes, or do I tighten the nut up until it stops (bottoms out), this seems to squash the bushes too much.
My feeling is that the big washer should bottom out - but if the bushes (and yes Polyurethane for here are far better) seem to be overcrompressed, then stop - and lock the nut!

If you fit poly bushes and I agree they are better check that all edges and lips are smooth as its not unknown for them to be damaged by a sharp edge and dont forget to use white grease on them, unfortunatly the modern rubber is not as good as the old rubber that used to be available.
