Floor edge panels...

Post by youngun »

Just a quick question, regarding floor edge panels. When i rebuilt the offside sills i cut along the the inner sill step to floor flange which allowed me to weld down through so as to join the floor edge panel to the inner sill step.

Would it be an idea to simply lap the floor edge panel underneath the old floor and weld, i could cut the panel down so theres only say an inch of over lap onto the old floor. I would imagine it would be quite strong.

Thoughts?

The overlap gives a good strong edge, if you also do a few plug welds from above or below on the overlap it makes it even stronger.
