Heavens, my teachers thought I was thick at maths, excellent at art and less than average at anything else. Turns out I have a mild form of Asperger's and am discalculic, so that would have explained a lot except that, even as late as the Eighties when I was in secondary school, such things didn't exist and you were simply thick, or a "problem child".
